There are so many web designers to choose from on the internet I know its hard to choose which designer you want to build your website. That is why I have chosen to do things a bit different than most web designers out there.

Years ago when web development first started designers had to write HTML code. These days with all the WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) web design editing programs out there, anyone with one of these programs can call themselves a web designer. The problem is that often times these programs generate code that is not valid or standard compliant. Which leaves you the consumer with a website that is not search engine friendly.

Many web design companies out there also use templates that can be purchased all over the internet for a very low cost for their customers websites. These templates save the companies time and money, yet they charge the you the consumers high fees for what amounts to adding your content to a pretty picture they purchased off a template website.

Buyer beware of such practices, ask your prospective designer questions. Be sure you are getting a well build search engine friendly site.

Its important for you the web design consumer to understand how and why search engine optimization works so that you can target the consumers that are looking for the services your business provides.

I have seen several cheap websites where the basic structure of the web site does not allow the search engine spiders to access the important information about the services being offered. Such as the WYSIWYG generated sites and template based websites I mentioned before.

So be sure that when you are shopping around for the perfect web designer for your project that you don’t just look for a cheap web designer or an affordable website. Because a website that does not have a search engine friendly basic structure will have a very hard time being ranked and indexed by the search engines.

These days a website is one of the most important marketing tools you can have. Be sure to get what you pay for, because a pretty picture is not going to sell anything unless people can find it in a search.
